Alphabet Lessons Cycle 1: Letter Frequency

$19.99

These lessons teach one letter per day in short and clear sessions, based on research showing that students learn best through multiple cycles of the alphabet.

What is an alphabet cycle?

An alphabet cycle is a rotation through the entire alphabet.

How is this cycle organized?

This cycle is organized by letter frequency. Letters that appear more frequently in environmental print are introduced first.

What are the advantages of this cycle?

This cycle introduces a vowel in each set, enabling students to progress to blending CVC words after completing the first set. If your child is already familiar with letter sounds and is ready to blend sounds together, this cycle will be ideal for their learning needs.

How are the Lessons designed?

Lessons are designed to be taught in a 5-day set. Students will focus on one letter a day for four days. The fifth day is designed to be a cumulative review of the four letters taught in that letter set. After students complete the review day, they will be introduced to the next set of four letters. After 7 weeks, students will have been exposed to every letter in the alphabet and completed one alphabet cycle. If at the end of the 7 weeks students have not shown letter name & sound mastery, they can repeat the cycle or begin a new cycle organized a different way.

What Activities are included?

The activities & routines stay the same throughout each lesson. The only thing that changes between each lesson is the targeted letter. The following daily activities include:

  • Introducing New Concept

  • Letter Name Identification

  • Letter Sound Identification

  • Produce the Letter

  • Listen for Sounds
